Roots & damage
Disturbed roots, moving house, weedkiller drift and wind: harm done to the plant rather than by something living on it.
When a plant sulks for no visible reason, look at what happened to it: a move, a knock to the roots, a gale, a neighbour spraying the lawn. These injuries do not spread, and most plants grow out of them once the cause stops.
